Michael North (L ’97) sworn in as U.S. Magistrate Judge

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael North is formally sworn in March 21, 2014.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael North is formally sworn in March 21, 2014.

Michael North (L ’97), who handled civil litigation and appellate work at Preis & Roy in New Orleans, is the newest U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

North started at the courthouse at the beginning of March, and his investiture was March 21, 2014. He brings to eight the number Tulane Law graduates currently serving as federal Magistrate Judges across the United States and the third – with Chief Magistrate Judge Jay Wilkinson (L ’80) and Karen Wells Roby (L ’87) -- in the Eastern District.

North graduated first in his law school class and was Tulane Law Review editor in chief.

In his law practice, North represented product manufacturers and insurance companies and handled a variety of commercial disputes.
