Tulane Law Library Director James E. Duggan is being honored with induction into the American Association of Law Libraries Hall of Fame at the group’s annual meeting in July in San Antonio.
Duggan, who was AALL president in 2008-09, also has served six years on the executive board and has chaired several of the organization’s committees and sections. He is a past president of both the New Orleans Association of Law Librarians and the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries. He currently is editor of Law Library Journal, the AALL’s official journal, and is the immediate past chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Law Libraries and Legal Information.
In a letter nominating Duggan for the award, Catherine Lemann (L ’80), a former AALL president who retired as chief librarian for the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, said his leadership both inside the group and in other capacities serves as a model and “attests that others value his commitment to whatever he takes on.”
Duggan joined the Tulane law faculty as an associate professor in 2008, and teaches advanced legal research.
