Kevin Yorn’s path to representing entertainment elites including Ellen DeGeneres, Matthew McConaughey, Zoe Saldana and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone wound through the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

As a 2014 Wall Street Journal profile tells it, Yorn (L ’90) spent five years handling murder cases with the Hardcore Gang Investigations Unit after graduating from Tulane University Law School. But then he started an entertainment law firm with another young lawyer, befriended an aspiring screenwriter and before long was representing Anthony Zuiker as he created what became the blockbuster “CSI” TV drama franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter has named Yorn among the top 100 entertainment lawyers in Hollywood and the United States. The Morris Yorn law firm he co-founded, based in Century City, is one of Los Angeles’ leading entertainment law boutiques. On March 7, he’s set to tell Tulane Law students about his experiences representing celebrities, producers and studios.

The event, which is open to the Tulane University community, is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Weinmann Hall Room 157 and is sponsored by the Tulane Entertainment and Art Law Society.

In addition to advising DeGeneres on her show and a range of other projects, Yorn and his firm, Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellman, represent actors such as Scarlett Johansson, Liam Hemsworth, Zach Galifianakis and Laura Linney, pro skateboarder Tony Hawk, King of the Hill creator Mike Judge and a long list of high-profile entertainers and businesses.
