Alumna to Lead Tampa Cement Company

July 12, 2018

Monica Manolas

One of the 11 “pioneers” of Tulane Law School’s Master of Jurisprudence in Labor and Employment Law (MJL) has been named president of the cement division of a global building materials company, just weeks after receiving her degree.

Monica Manolas (MJL’18), has joined CRH Materials America as President of Suwanee American Cement Company based in Tampa, Fla. Manolas received her Tulane degree in May as one of the first graduates of the 2-year-old, fully online program Master of Jurisprudence program.

Formerly a Vice President of Sales for Florida-based Cemex, Manolas joined Tulane’s program with a Human Resources background, but still in need of broader legal education in labor and employment law.

“I learned so much through Tulane’s program that the legal department came to me on some issues,” Manolas said earlier year.
CRH is a leading global diversified building materials group employing more than 85,000 people at 3,600 locations worldwide. Suwannee American Cement is a part of their cement division.

Manolas has more than 20 years of experience in the construction materials industry, with senior level roles in general management, operations, and human resources.  In addition to her MJL at Tulane, Manolas holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami, a Master in Industrial and Systems Engineering and an MBA from the University of Florida.  In 2014, she was appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Concrete Masonry Educational Council, which she currently serves as Chair.
