Prior to joining the Environmental Law Clinic, Godshall was in private practice for both plaintiff and defense firms. She represented corporate and insurance clients in complex matters including environmental and energy-related disputes and litigation, as well as litigation following hurricanes, sinkholes, and oil spills. As a plaintiff attorney she worked on multi-district litigation and mass torts involving defective products, medications, and medical devices.
Godshall has chaired the LSBA's Environmental Law Section as well as the New Orleans Bar Association's Environmental Committee. Interested in supporting the rights of disabled persons, Lauren has served as chair of the board of Families Helping Families of New Orleans, which provides services and advocacy for disabled persons and their families, as well as on the board of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans. She also serves as chair and member of the LSBA's Services for Persons with Disabilities Committee.
She often leads CLEs and seminars on environmental law, ethics, professionalism, and the adoption of technology in the legal profession. Lauren was named an Assistant Bar Examiner by the Louisiana Supreme Court in the area of federal procedure and evidence in 2017 and continues to serve in that role. She is licensed in California, Louisiana, and Texas.
