LECTURE/GENERAL ASSEMBLY: Palmer at la Société de législation comparée - July, 2014

The General Assembly of la Société de législation comparée/the Society of Comparative Legislation will be held on 10 July 2014 at Salle des conseils; 12, place du Panthéon; 75005 Paris.

Professor Vernon Palmer (Thomas Pickles Professor of Law, Tulane University) will address the Society at 17:45 about 'Le dommage moral : l'éveil français au 19ème siècle'.

Call for Papers: The Scholar, Teacher, Judge, and Jurist in a Mixed Jurisdiction

The World Society of Mixed Jurisdiction Jurists is pleased to announce a Fourth Worldwide Congress to be held at McGill University Faculty on Law from June 24 (open evening reception and lecture) through June 26, 2015. The theme of the Congress will be "The Scholar, Teacher, Judge and Jurist in a Mixed Jurisdiction."

Judicial Creativity and Equity in Mixed Jurisdictions - May 2013

The Protection Project at the John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), in co-operation with the World Society of Mixed Jurisdiction Jurists (WSMJJ) and the Tulane's Eason Weinmann Center for Comparative Law, organized an international conference on Filling the Gaps: The Study of Judicial Creativity and Equity in Mixed Jurisdictions and Beyond in Catania, Italy on May 27-28, 2013. The event was hosted by the Department of Political Science at the University of Catania. Speakers explored the sources, methods and approaches used by courts in mixed jurisdictions when faced with a lacuna in the law.

Mixed Legal Systems, East and West - May 2012

The Protection Project at The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), in co-operation with the World Society of Mixed Jurisdiction Jurists and the Eason-Weinmann Center for Comparative Law at Tulane Law School, organized an international conference on Mixed Legal Systems, East and West: Newest Trends and Developments. The event took place in Malta on May 14/15, 2012. The conference focused on the intersections and interplay between Western and Eastern legal systems, including the study of those countries where common and civil law interact and/or co-exist with Islamic law.

Third World Congress on Mixed Jurisdictions - June 2011

The Center and Hebrew University co-sponsored the Third World Congress of Mixed Jurisdictions in Jerusalem from June 20-23, 2011. The event brought together academics, judges and practitioners from around the world to discuss a broad selection of topics under the general theme Legal Methodology and Legal Innovation in the Mixed Jurisdictions.
