The Center for Law and the Economy sponsors a variety of scholarly activities.

Murphy Institute Visiting Assistant Professorship

This position is designed for scholars focusing on regulation of economic activity very broadly construed (including, for example, research with a methodical or analytical focus relevant to scholars of regulation). It is also designed for individuals who plan to apply for tenure-track law school positions during the second year of the professorship.

Roundtables

The Tulane Tax Roundtable brings together tax scholars from around the country, resident Tulane faculty and Tulane students for discussion and debate about important tax policy issues of our time. The roundtable showcases the drafts and works-in-progress of its participants and subjects these works to rigorous analysis in a discussant-driven workshop format.

The Tulane Property Roundtable brings together property scholars from around the country to discuss and debate important property issues pertaining to the regulation of private and public property rights. The roundtable showcases the works-in-progress of the participating scholars and encourages lively debate regarding the drafts.

The Corporate & Securities Roundtable annually gathers corporate and securities scholars from around the country to explore changes in the industry following Tulane's Corporate Law Institute. At last year's Roundtable, more than a dozen scholars from around the country discussed women in mergers and accquistions, the role of shareholder votes in mergers and acquisitions, mandatory shareholder disclosures and securities enforcement, among other relevant topics.
