Sports Law Advisory Board Member: Jim Aronowitz

Jim Aronowitz

Jim Aronowitz is Vice President of Legal Affairs and Brand Protection at Fanatics, Inc. In this capacity, Jim serves as the global lead intellectual property attorney for the company. He is responsible for management of Fanatics’ IP portfolio across all of the company’s well-known brands – Fanatics, Majestic, WinCraft, Top of the World, and Kitbag – including prosecutions, oppositions, enforcement, and coordination with outside counsel. Jim also directs Fanatics’ anti-counterfeiting enforcement program, including collaboration with leagues and other licensors. In addition, he provides legal guidance to business units within the organization to protect the company’s exclusive licensing rights and handles legal matters for Fanatics’ collegiate licensing management division, including negotiation of license agreements, trademark enforcement, and other matters.

Prior to joining Fanatics, Jim served as General Counsel for Fermata Partners, establishing and leading the legal department for the boutique trademark licensing agency that represented elite Power 5 collegiate institutions, PGA TOUR, Churchill Downs, Premier League clubs, and other sports properties. Jim joined Fermata after spending a decade at the Collegiate Licensing Company, where he directed worldwide trademark enforcement efforts on behalf of the agency’s client institutions and negotiated and structured trademark license and agency agreements.

Jim is a proud graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and Tulane University Law School. He was born and raised in New York City and, despite living in Atlanta for over 20 years, is still a rabid Giants, Knicks, Mets, and Rangers fan. He loves to spend time with his family and enjoys running, biking, paddleboarding, and being near the water whenever possible.
