Andrei Kharchenko is the in-house legal counsel of BBC Chartering GmbH & Co KG, a world-leading shipping company in the ocean carriage of heavy lift and project cargoes. The company operates a fleet of more than 140 multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels. Together with a team of in-house counsel he provides around the clock advice to the chartering and operations team. He provides strategic advice on legal exposure and costs in long terms COAs, time and voyage charter parties. He handles various cargo damage, freight, demurrage and detention claims, vessel collision and grounding claims from the time of occurrence until resolution, whether through arbitration, litigation or commercially.
Mr. Kharchenko is admitted to practice in New York. He defended his doctorate dissertation in the University of Groningen and obtained his master in admiralty law with distinction at Tulane University. He has participated as a speaker in various conferences worldwide.
