Biography

Stevan C. Dittman was born in Hampshire, Illinois, on December 7, 1949. He received his BA from the University of Wisconsin in 1971 and his MA from the University of Michigan in 1973. He then relocated to New Orleans to earn his JD from Tulane University in 1985, where he was on the Editorial Board of the Tulane Law Review.

After graduation, he clerked for The Honorable Peter Hill Beer, US District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Mr. Dittman is now an attorney with Gainsburgh, Benjamin, David, Meunier & Warshauer. He has taught at the University of New Orleans Paralegal Institute, Loyola University School of Law and Tulane University Law School. He is a member of the Louisiana State, American and Federal (Board of Directors, New Orleans Chapter, 2000-2011, President 2009-2010) Bar Associations; Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit; Louisiana Association for Justice (Board of Governors, 2002-2010); The American Association for Justice (Maritime Law Advisory Committee,1989-90; Admiralty Section Officer, 1996-02; Chair, 1999-00); Maritime Law Association of the United States (Proctor); and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Federal Bar Foundation; American Inns of Court (Tulane Inn of Court) as well as a Charter Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
