Biography

Clara Potter joined The Environmental Law Clinic at Tulane in the spring of 2023 as an Assistant Professor. Prior to joining the Clinic, Clara was a Staff Attorney with the Economic Justice Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center. There, she engaged in advocacy and litigation on a variety of civil rights topics across the Southeast including extractive bail practices, inequitable tax assessment policies, predatory debt collection practices related to disaster benefit disbursements, and laws aimed at criminalizing unhoused populations. She represented both individual plaintiffs and community groups in federal and state court. She is licensed in Louisiana.
