Copyright issues stimulate collaboration

During February, the Tulane Center for Intellectual Property Law and Culture, Copyright Research Lab, Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking, Tulane Technology and IP Society, Tulane University Law School and Tulane's Howard-Tilton Memorial Library collaborated on the university's first Copyright Strategy Week.

Renowned copyright authority David Nimmer shares his expertise during Tulane’s Copyright Strategy Week in February.

Events included discussions and strategizing with Greg Cram, associate director of copyright and information policy at The New York Public Library; Kyle Courtney, Harvard University copyright adviser; and renowned attorneys Kenny Crews and David Nimmer; and participation in the Art Libraries Society of North America annual conference, held this year in New Orleans. A two-day “copyright first responders“ program with Courtney attracted more than 70 attendees from across Louisiana as well as Florida, Georgia, Arkansas and Texas.

The goal is to develop resources to help the community understand and handle challenges presented by copyright issues in the university, library and museum settings.
