Professor Bratspies Co-Authors Guide to Teaching Environmental Law
Rebecca Bratspies, the inaugural Oliver Houck Professor of Environmental Law, has co-authored Teaching Environmental Law in Context alongside Carmen G. Gonzalez, Professor of Law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
A scholar of property law, environmental justice, and human rights, Bratspies explores how environmental law intersects with social and public policy. The book provides tools and frameworks for teaching environmental law during times of uncertainty, helping educators confidently approach difficult or contested concepts.
By tracing the history of federal environmental statutes and providing practical examples and teaching exercises in each chapter, Bratspies and Gonzalez have created a powerful resource for professors, government officials and students alike.
Before coming to Tulane Law, Bratspies was a professor at CUNY School of Law, where she founded the Center for Urban Environmental Reform. She also served on New York City’s Environmental Justice Advisory Board and EPA’s Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee. In addition to her newest book, Bratspies has authored several award-winning works, including Environmental Justice: Law, Policy and Regulation and The Environmental Justice Chronicles, a comic-book series created in collaboration with artist Charlie LaGreca-Velasco.
