Tulane Corporate and Securities Law Roundtable Takes Place March 21

Tulane Law School will host leading corporate law scholars and one of the nation’s most influential business court judges on March 21 as part of its 2026 Corporate and Securities Law Roundtable, a one-day academic conference examining the future of corporate governance and financial regulation.

The event, sponsored by the Murphy Center for Law and the Economy and the Sher Garner Endowed Fund for the Advancement of Commercial Law, will be convened at the John Giffen Weinmann Hall, 6329 Freret St., in the Wendell H. Gauthier Moot Court Room 110 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. View the full schedule.

The Roundtable, held on the heels of Tulane’s Corporate Law Institute,  brings together faculty from top law schools across the country to discuss some of the most pressing issues in corporate governance.

“This is a group that helps define how corporate law is taught, studied, and applied,” said Ann Lipton, former Tulane Law professor and now the Laurence W. DeMuth Chair of Business Law at the University of Colorado Law School. “Their work influences courts, regulators, and policymakers.”

The conference opens with a morning panel on corporate governance and shareholder power, featuring research on activist investors, the growth of private equity, and the role of index funds in corporate oversight. Later sessions will examine fiduciary obligations in light of changes to Delaware law, the new competition for state charters, and broader questions about corporate law scholarship itself and the role of corporations in public policy, including supply chain resilience and national security concerns.

The event was founded by Lipton during her tenure at Tulane, and a leading figure in corporate and securities law, and is in its 10th year.

The Corporate and Securities Law Roundtable is part of Tulane Law School’s ongoing effort to serve as a national forum for high-level debate on business law issues, drawing scholars from leading institutions to New Orleans for candid, in-depth discussion.
