Tulane Law Experts Shine at Second Annual Future of Energy Forum
The Future of Energy Forum returned to Tulane’s campus for its second year, bringing together experts from across industries to explore strategies and innovations in energy. Faculty, alumni, and friends of Tulane Law were well-represented at the three-day forum, which centered on the theme, “Powering the Future: Innovation, Competition, and Collaboration.”
The Forum kicked off on Wednesday with opening remarks from President Michael Fitts, who introduced the first event: a conversation with Bobby Tudor (L’00), moderated by Law Dean Marcilynn Burke. Tudor, the Founder and CEO of Artemis Energy Partners and a retired founder and CEO of Tudor, Pickering, Holt and Co., is a leader in global energy investments and markets. He spoke with Burke about how the industry has evolved and how he stays ahead of the changes in the field over his more than 35-year career.
In addition to Dean Burke, Frédéric Sourgens, James McCulloch Chair in Energy Law and co-organizer of the Forum, participated in a panel titled “Navigating Power: A New Theory of Global Energy Governance” alongside Gary Hoover, executive director of The Murphy Institute.
Randel Young, the new executive director of the Tulane Energy Law and Policy Center, moderated a panel with former U.S. Ambassador James Story and the Hon. Sonya Savage, former Alberta Minister of Energy. The discussion explored key policy and trade developments shaping North American and global energy markets today.
Tulane Law Energy Law & Policy Center Senior Fellow Drake Hernandez, and alumna Anjana Turner (SLA ‘13, L’17) also contributed by moderating panels on energy supply chains and the commercialization of CCUS and low-carbon innovations, featuring industry leaders from ExxonMobil, Gulf Wind Technology, and more.
The Future of Energy Forum highlights Tulane Law’s unique ability to convene leaders, foster dialogue, and contribute to discussions that shape the energy landscape. With its combination of academic expertise and industry connections, Tulane Law continues to be at the forefront of conversations driving the future of energy.
