Tulane Law Student Earns Second National Writing Award

Rising third-year law student Jackson Fox recently earned national recognition as the winner of the graduate student writing competition hosted by the Association of Transportation Law Professionals (ATLP).

Fox was honored at the organization's annual meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, where he presented his article, "Railroad Megamergers in the Intermodal Age: Union Pacific–Norfolk Southern and Why the STB's 2001 Major Merger Rules Miss the Competitive Reality," which was also published in Volume 93 of the Journal of Transportation Law, Logistics, and Policy by ATLP. The recognition marks Fox's second national writing award this year, after earning third place in the Connecticut Maritime Association's Business of Shipping Research Competition this spring.

Tulane Law's maritime program is widely recognized as one of the nation's premier programs, providing students with opportunities to explore the legal issues shaping global commerce. For Fox, that meant expanding his focus beyond maritime law to examine the broader transportation network. "As land transportation networks become increasingly interconnected with the ocean supply chain, Tulane students also have an opportunity to engage with the broader legal framework governing the movement of goods across rail, trucking, and aviation," he said.

Fox's success reflects Tulane Law's longstanding commitment to preparing the next generation of maritime and transportation lawyers. Through nationally recognized programs and connections with leaders across the industry, students graduate ready to navigate the evolving legal challenges of the global supply chain.
