Tulane Law Students Step Up to Support the Community During Tax Season
As tax season approaches, Tulane Law students are once again stepping beyond the classroom to provide vital support to the New Orleans community through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
The VITA Clinic offers free tax preparation services to individuals and families who might otherwise be unable to afford professional assistance. Since 1992, Tulane Law students have donated well over 14,000 hours of service through the program, helping hundreds of taxpayers each year navigate the complexities of filing their returns.
Students assist with basic tax returns for eligible taxpayers, including individuals with disabilities, elderly taxpayers, and limited English-speaking individuals. In addition to serving members of the Tulane University community, the clinic welcomes local residents who meet the income requirements.
