Tulane students host 8th Women in Sports Law Symposium
The 8th annual Women in Sports Law Symposium (WiSLS) took place in October at Tulane Law School, with a host of panels, speakers and other events geared at elevating women’s roles in sports law.
The Symposium is a networking and professional development event organized by Tulane sports law students which provides attendees with the opportunity to hear from those in the industry. The event, sponsored by Fragomen and the Tulane Center for Sport, is a marquee event organized by members of the Tulane Sports Law Society.
The first day, speakers discussed their experience working as in-house lawyers, representing athletes and sports organizations, and breaking into the sports industry as young lawyers. Attendees mingled during a lunch provided between scheduled panels., giving students an excellent opportunity to network with practitioners in the industry. The second day of the event saw attendees and speakers attending the football tailgate on the Berger Family Lawn prior to the Tulane home football game.
Since its inception, the Symposium has helped future and current sports lawyers see the importance of diversity and women-leadership in male-dominated spaces like the sports industry. The event has recognized women lawyers for their work and achievements while also connecting generations of change-makers interested or involved in the industry.
