Black Law Students Association

The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Tulane Chapter articulates and promotes the needs and goals of black law students and effectuates change in the legal community.   BLSA provides leadership opportunities and support activities for its members, collaborates with other student groups, and sponsors educational, political, and community service activities for the larger Tulane Law School community.

BLSA works with the Law School administration in the areas of diversity, recruitment, retention and job placement issues for African-American legal scholars as well as maintaining ties with Tulane School of Law’s esteemed alumni of African descent.

Notable among BLSA sponsored activities; members compete yearly within the national BLSA association in academic competitions such as the Frederick Douglass Moot Court and Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition, building legal research skills, oral advocacy skills and fostering interscholastic networks.
