Tulane Hosts Women of Color in Law Panel Monday

Studying law can launch a student towards a variety of career paths, but discovering which career is the best fit is often harder for women of color who are blazing trails in the profession.

To make that discovery a little easier, Tulane Law School is hosting a panel titled, “Women of Color in Law” Monday, Sept. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The event will be held in the Marian Mayer Berkett Multi-Purpose Room on the first floor of the John Giffen Weinmann Hall, 6329 Freret St.

The panelists, all Tulane Law alumni, include:

•    Lezlie Griffin (L’07) Assistant Dean for Career Development & Diversity Initiatives, Tulane Law School (previously worked as a staff attorney for a labor union in Florida).
•    Cashauna Hill (L’05), Executive Director, Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center (previously worked in legal services in Oregon)
•    Vanessa Rodriguez (L’14), Assistant Dean, Student Support & Success, Tulane School of Professional Advancement (previously served as the director of student conduct, as an EEOC mediator, and judicial law clerk).
•    Rebecca Sha (L’13), Associate Attorney in Labor and Employment Practice Group, Phelps Dunbar (previously worked for a boutique New Orleans firm in commercial litigation).

The panelists, all from a variety of backgrounds and career paths, will share information about professional background, as well as share challenges they’ve faced and how to overcome those challenges.
