Our Mission

The Tulane Journal of Technology & Intellectual Property (JTIP) is a student-edited, subscription-based, scholarly publication of Tulane University Law School. The purpose of JTIP is twofold: (1) to advance the theory, research, education, and practice in the burgeoning field of technology and intellectual property law and (2) to give its student members intensive experience in legal research and writing. Past publications have included topics such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets, as well as antitrust, information privacy, computer law, constitutional law, biotechnology, international medicine, contracts, torts, and other policy implications of law and technology in our society.

JTIP is conveniently available in print; on Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Hein Online; and through our online journal store. The journal publishes in print annually in the spring. Our online publications are comprised solely of student-authored pieces that focus on current developments affecting the law of technology and intellectual property.

Masthead

JTIP's editorial members are second and third-year Tulane law students who work under the guidance of faculty advisors. Members write-on as rising 2Ls, learn what it takes to publish critical legal scholarship, and then manage and edit the journals in their second year of membership as 3Ls.

Submissions

Thank you for your interest in publishing with the Tulane Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property. We are currently accepting submissions for Volumes 28 and 29.

The Journal accepts submissions from law school graduates. While our Journal has no minimum or maximum page requirements for submissions, we believe that journal articles can convey their arguments effectively in 35-70 journal pages (between 20,000 and 35,000 words including text and footnotes) and encourage authors to target the lengths of their papers accordingly.

JTIP uses Microsoft Word-based editing software and requests that documents be submitted in either Microsoft Word document format or a compatible document type.

The citations of the Tulane Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property adhere to the rules outlined in The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed. 2025). In terms of style, the Journal follows the guidelines set forth in The Gregg Reference Manual by William A Sabin (10th ed. 2022) and highly encourages submitting authors to reference these materials for guidance.

When submitting a manuscript, please include a cover letter that provides your address, telephone number, email address, and the title of your manuscript. Also, please include a CV or resume.

In general, the Journal accepts submissions through ExpressO, Scholastica, and through direct email HERE.

Please note that JTIP does not currently publish articles submitted by students enrolled at other law schools.
