Our Mission

Founded in 1991, the Tulane Journal of Law & Sexuality: A Review of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity in the Law is the first student-edited law review in the country devoted solely to covering legal issues of interest to the LGBTQ+ community. The Journal is also the official legal journal of the National LGBT Bar Association.

We accept electronic submissions of unsolicited articles, essays, and book reviews. Please submit articles through ExpressO or e-mail articles HERE, to the attention of “Law & Sexuality.”

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • All submissions must meet the following requirements:
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • The submission must be categorized as an Original Research Article, Brief Report, or Field Action Report as per the Section Policies.
  • You grant to the Administrators of the Tulane Educational Fund (Tulane) the right of first publication of this submission and if the submission is selected for publication by the Journal, you agree to acknowledge its initial publication in the Journal.
