
Mercedes Townsend is an Associate Attorney at Casey Denson Law where she represents employees in labor and employment matters, with particular focus on workplace discrimination and harassment, and represents litigants in civil rights matters against the State. Ms. Townsend is also the Founder of Friend of the Court, a global, online platform dedicated to developments in Women’s Sports Law. She has presented on Title IX developments to bar associations and sports media programs across the country and was named a Rising Star in Labor & Employment Law by Super Lawyers in 2023 and 2024. In addition to her professional endeavors, Ms. Townsend is a coalition member of Laureus Sport for Good New Orleans, which seeks to address barriers to access affecting youth athletes across the City.
Before law school, Ms. Townsend earned her Master’s in Women’s History from Sarah Lawrence College. She is dedicated to navigating the complexities of equity issues across industries, and is passionate about ensuring meaningful access for all.
