Why Tulane? Why New Orleans?
In 1993, Tulane became the first law school in the country to offer a certificate of concentration in sports law. In the thirty years since, the Tulane Sports Law Program has developed an unparalleled reputation in the sports law world. The proof is in the numbers. Scores of Tulane Law graduates have worked in the sports industry and the Sports Law Program engages with over 150 sports lawyers and executives each year, who speak to and mentor our students, judge our competitions, and more. In 2022 alone, 38 professional sports teams sent their lawyers and executives to work with our students.
Why Tulane? Led by Professor Gabe Feldman since 2007, the Tulane Sports Law Program combines two key elements: the academic rigor of the Sports Law Certificate and a vast suite of sports-focused programming, including mentorship and internship programs, conferences, competitions, writing opportunities, and much more. Add in the power of an extensive network of alumni and friends working in sports, and it is clear that the Tulane Sports Law Program has a winning formula. With the support of so many in every corner of the sports world, Tulane Sports Law has placed its students in sports jobs year after year. Those in the sports industry know, Tulane Law is the place to recruit the next generation of sports law leaders.
Why New Orleans? With one of the world’s great sporting destinations as its backyard, it is no surprise that the Tulane Sports Law Program has flourished. New Orleans has been a leading destination for the world’s greatest sporting events for decades. From Super Bowls and Sugar Bowls, to Men’s and Women’s Final Fours, legendary heavyweight fights, and much more, these global events regularly bring top sports leaders to campus, as well as hands-on opportunities for our students to immerse themselves in the industry. These events, combined with the city’s cultural renown in music, food, and entertainment, along with its ineffable joie-de-vivre, make for a unique melting pot unlike any place, anywhere.
