Alumni return to celebrate Tulane Law clinics’ public service

February 22, 2017 5:54 AM

A hundred alumni, current students and faculty gathered Feb. 1 to celebrate the work of the Tulane University Law School clinical program. Established in 1979, Tulane Law clinics currently represent children, indigent defendants, victims of discrimination and domestic violence and vulnerable communities fighting for clean air, clean water and healthy neighborhoods.

The clinics — Civil Litigation, Criminal Law, Domestic Violence, Environmental Law, Juvenile Litigation and Legislative & Administrative Advocacy — provide training for some 70 law students each year by allowing them to directly represent clients under the supervision of licensed faculty members. Students hone a range of skills in litigation as well as in navigating legislative and administrative processes.
