March and April Events Bring Burst to Tulane Law School
As spring nears, Tulane Law School is gearing up for its version of “March Madness” — a lively slate of academic, professional, and community events throughout March and into early April that bring nationally-recognized practitioners, academics and other VIPs to campus.
U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals
As part of its community outreach and education efforts, the U.S. 5th Circuit will hold a sitting March 4 at Tulane Law School at the John Giffen Weinmann Hall beginning at 9 a.m. A panel of judges will hear three cases on its docket that morning in the Wendell H. Gauthier Moot Court Room 110. In what is one of the most unique opportunities for the public to experience the work of the court in person, the sittings are held annually in the state's law schools for the benefit and education of law students, practitioners and the broader community. The event is open to the public.
The Tulane Environmental Law & Policy Summit
The 31st annual summit focused on environmental law returns March 5-7 with the theme “Frontlines of the Future.” This flagship student-led event features more than 40 speakers across law, science, policy, and advocacy, with panels on climate justice, water rights, AI in environmental regulation, and resilience strategies. The summit includes networking opportunities and CLE options — and is free and open to all. This year’s keynotes are an inspiring duo: Tulane alumna Franziska Trautmann, co-founder and CEO of innovative recycler Glass Half-Full and Dr. Virginia Burkett, chief scientist emeritus at the United States Geological Survey.
New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University
In partnership with The Atlantic, the festival will open on Thursday, March 12, with a special keynote evening honoring the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. The evening will bring together The Atlantic’s Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg (moderator), bestselling biographer Walter Isaacson, acclaimed filmmaker and storyteller Ken Burns, Atlantic Staff Writer and bestselling author Clint Smith and Annette Gordon-Reed, author and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian.
Authors and panelists representing Tulane Law School are Professor Gabe Feldman and former law school faculty member Tania Tetlow, along with alumni Kaye Courington, Tim Francis and Bruce Spizer. The Tulane Corporate Law Institute
In its 38th year, the premier gathering in corporate and securities law in the nation will take place at Tulane Law March 19-20. It annually draws hundreds of judges, practitioners, and scholars for high-level discussions on mergers & acquisitions, governance, and market developments. Immediately following, the law school will host the Tulane Corporate & Securities Law Roundtable on March 21, a renowned academic discussion that is celebrating its 10th year.
At the Roundtable, organized by former Tulane Law Professor Ann Lipton and law and Murphy Center for Law and the Economy Professor Adam Feibelman, faculty and business law leaders will convene for an academic forum exploring cutting-edge topics in corporate governance, fiduciary duties, and economic regulation.
Tulane Admiralty Law Institute
The Biennial Tulane Admiralty Law Institute on March 25-27, celebrating its 31st year, is the largest CLE program devoted to maritime law in the nation and brings industry professionals and leading scholars to New Orleans for sessions on marine insurance, shipping litigation, and regulatory trends. It’s also essential networking for anyone in the maritime law industry, drawing hundreds to Tulane’s campus every two years.
9th Annual Entertainment & Sports Law Conference
One of Tulane Law’s marquee events, the Entertainment & Sports Law Conference returns April 10-11 with two days of panels, networking, and industry insight at the John Giffen Weinmann Hall. The Conference convenes top lawyers, agents, executives, and creators to explore the evolving legal issues at the intersection of sports, media, and entertainment.
This year’s keynote speaker is Desmond Howard, a former Heisman Trophy winner and Super Bowl MVP who now serves as a prominent sportscaster. His experience at the highest levels of college football, the NFL, and sports media will anchor a program focused on the evolving business and legal landscape of sports and entertainment.
Designed for seasoned practitioners, students, and industry professionals alike, the conference features breakfast and lunch sessions, keynote talks, high-profile panel discussions, and a networking reception.
From environmental law to corporate dealmaking, maritime practice to sports and entertainment law, Tulane Law School’s March and April calendars are packed with cross-disciplinary engagement opportunities for students, faculty and alumni.
