Normally, this space is for book reviews, but today’s post is on my own book, A Theory of Global Energy Governance (‘Theory’), which first appeared in print this month. I cannot review my own book, so this post instead offers a brief overview of the arguments in Theory. The book will speak for itself.

On 27 July 2025, US President, Donald J. Trump, and EU Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the agreement of the US – EU Framework Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair and Balanced Trade (“US-EU Framework Agreement”). Article 5 of the US-EU Framework Agreement commits the EU to procure US oil, LNG and nuclear energy products worth $750 billion through 2028.
