Biography

Gaby Cruz is a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor of Law in the Immigrant Rights Clinic for the Fall 2025 semester. Born and raised in Mexico to Cuban immigrant parents, Cruz brings a deep personal and cultural understanding to her teaching and work in immigration law. Before joining the faculty, she most recently served as a staff attorney and Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow at the clinic, representing clients in humanitarian immigration claims such as affirmative and defensive asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and U and T visas. Cruz has also supervised students in casework and know your rights presentations in detention centers throughout Louisiana, as well as co-authored several reports with Professor Mary Yanik and Professor Laila Hlass. Cruz earned her J.D. from Tulane Law School in 2021, where she was a student attorney in the Immigrant Rights Clinic. She holds a B.A. in History from the University of Miami, graduating in 2018.
