Joe West (L'86) joins 2024 Class of the Tulane Law Hall of Fame
Joe West, partner and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Duane Morris, LLP, is among this year’s honorees in the Tulane Law Hall of Fame.
West, who is from Louisiana and is a member of the Tulane Law class of 1986, has seen the evolution of DEI over many decades, in positions as in-house counsel, with firms and through non-profits where he has served. He practices in the area of complex litigation in the firm’s Trial Practice Group.
West also leads the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion program and consulting practice. He previously served as the President and CEO of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) and is nationally recognized as an expert in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

West currently serves as co-chair on the board of directors of the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and as a chair of the ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar. Previously, he served on the ABA Commission on Diversity and Inclusion 360, was a member of the ABA Task Force on the Financing of Legal Education, and served on the ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession. In 2019, West was the inaugural recipient of the Chambers and Partners’ Lifetime Achievement Award: Diversity and Equality.
