Tulane alumni, students dominate ABA admiralty news

The newest issue of the American Bar Association’s Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee News prominently features Tulane Law students and alumni from front to back.  The lead story, examining potential pitfalls in maritime contracting arrangements, is co-authored by 2008 alumna K. Blythe Daly, an associate with Holland & Knight in New York City.

The newsletter also published an article by Tulane 3L Allison Skopec, Learning to Love Blockchain Schooner Rather Than Later, which won the 2017 ABA TIPS AMLC/Gard N.A. Student Writing Competition.  And it features photographs of student members of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal presenting their journal works-in-progress at the offices of Liskow & Lewis in New Orleans, an event held each semester and webcast through the ABA.

The newsletter’s Trade Talk section provides a Q & A with 2013 alumnus Scott Reid.  Reid, a former editor-in-chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal and now in-house counsel with Signet Maritime Corporation in Houston, credits Tulane’s “exceptional maritime law program with top-notch faculty and an active alumni network” with propelling his career in admiralty law.

Finally, the newsletter includes a letter from Committee Chair Ray Waid (L ’07), a partner at Liskow & Lewis in New Orleans.
