Careers in Sports Law

Sports law is a highly competitive field and requires a high level of academic excellence, ambition, focus, and enthusiasm that should begin the first day you step foot in Tulane Law School.

Whether you are interested in becoming a lawyer for a professional team or league, a sports agent, working in intercollegiate athletics, or pursuing any number of other sports law careers, it is important to remember that there is a wide array of potential jobs for sports lawyers and a variety of ways in which to obtain them.

In addition to participating in the Sports Law Society, writing for the Journal or newsletter, taking the necessary courses for a sports law certificate, attending the annual Sports Lawyers Association Conference, securing a sports law internship, and cultivating a strong relationship with Professor Gabe Feldman, you should work closely with the Career Development Office to maximize your professional development and polish the materials you submit for internships and permanent positions.

Tulane's Sports Law Program

Tulane Law School has internship programs and connections with the New Orleans Saints, the New Orleans Hornets, the New York Jets, the San Antonio Spurs, the Philadelphia Eagles, the NBA, NCAA, NFL, MLB, NHL and numerous other professional teams and sports leagues, sports agencies, and amateur athletics organizations. Sports law students are encouraged to pursue sports law summer internships after their first year and more traditional internships or summer associate positions in the summer after their second year.
