Tulane Law Students Offer Free Tax Help, Saturdays, 9am-4pm

February 07, 2011 6:52 AM
Tulane University Law School students are helping low- to moderate-income individuals fill out their income tax forms for the 13th year in a row. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a free service and available on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through April 9 in Room 151 of Tulane Law School’s John Giffen Weinmann Hall, 6329 Freret St.* Through the VITA program, Tulane law students assist hundreds of individuals who could not otherwise afford assistance with their income tax returns. Students, who obtain community service credit for participation in the program, help prepare basic tax returns for taxpayers with special needs, including persons with disabilities, non-English speaking persons, and elderly taxpayers. * Please note: There will be no March 5 session because of Mardi Gras. More information is available by calling (504) 862-3518.
