12th Eason-Weinmann Lecture on Comparative Law to take place Wednesday, November 19, at 6:00 p.m.
Tulane Law School proudly presents the 12th Eason-Weinmann Lecture on Comparative Law*. This year, the lecture serves as an opening address of the International Colloquium: Celebrating the Bicentennial of the Louisiana Civil Code, 1808-2008. Professor Antonio Gambaro, University of Milan faculty of law, will lecture on “Property Rights in Comparative Perspective: Why Property is so Ancient and Durable.”

Antonio Gambaro is now professor of “diritto civile” at the University of Milan, where he has been professor of private comparative law for 20 years. A member of the Italian National Academy (Accademia dei Lincei), he is also President of the Latin group at the International Academy of Comparative Law and Assesseur du Doyen at the International Faculty of Comparative Law. He writes extensively on property and private comparative law.
The Eason-Weinmann Lecture is funded by the Eason Weinmann Center for International and Comparative Law, established in 1981 through the generosity of Virginia Eason Weinmann and John Giffen Weinmann, a distinguished Tulane Law School graduate (L ’52). Ambassador Weinmann is the former Chair of Tulane’s Board of Administrators, and the law building is named for him. Professor A.N. Yiannopoulos is the second holder of the Eason-Weinmann Chair of Comparative Law. The Eason-Weinmann Center funds other comparative law visitors to the Law School each year.
