Constitution Day panel Sept. 17 will address voting rights

Tulane Law’s annual recognition of Constitution Day takes place Friday, Sept. 17 from noon to 1 p.m. in a virtual format.

This year’s event will highlight “Voting Rights and the Constitution” with a panel that includes Allegra Lawrence-Hardy, the lead counsel representing Fair Fight Action in the ongoing cases of Fair Fight Action v. Raffensperger and Fair Fight Action v. True the Vote;  Tulane alumna and adjunct professor Celeste Coco-Ewing (NC ’90, L’97) who recently joined the Fair Fight Action litigation team; and James Woodall, former President of the Georgia NAACP and current Public Policy Associate for the Southern Center for Human Rights. Law Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Sally Richardson will moderate the discussion.

From state legislatures to the U.S. Congress to courts across the country, voting rights are a hot topic. Our panelists will discuss the constitutional underpinnings of your right to vote, updates on recent litigation concerning new state laws pertaining to voting rights, and the future of voting rights in our country.
