Worldwide changes in the Third Millennium present constant challenges and a need for more sophisticated and technically proficient legislative research and drafting. Countries coping with the global marketplace and adapting to democratic influences at home and abroad need new laws regulating the environment and climate change, economic development, artificial intelligence, elections, and numerous other developing issues. The Institute meets these needs with a curriculum of lectures, readings, drafting exercises, site visits, computer research, and practical instruction. In addition to the classroom training, participants share ideas and information with each other, learning "how we did it" in response to numerous common problems of interest to drafters and members.
We need the Institute more than ever in these troubled times. The Institute brings together a worldwide community of legislative drafters and policymakers whose work contributes so much to calming troubled waters. Institute training promotes the rule of law, which in turn fosters transparent and accountable government.
