Biography

Jaye Calhoun is a partner in the New Orleans office of Kean Miller and practices in the tax group. She has more than 25 years of experience and handling issues at the federal, state and local levels, including tax compliance and planning and use of tax and business incentives. She regularly represents clients in audits and administrative and judicial appeals before the IRS, State of Louisiana Department of Revenue and local taxing authorities. Calhoun is board certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization in both taxation and estate planning. 

She chairs the American Bar Association Section of Taxation State and Local Taxes Committee and is a former chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association Tax Section and co-chair of the New Orleans Bar Association Tax Law Committee. She also serves on the Louisiana Tax Institute and is the author of BNA’s Navigator on Louisiana corporation income taxes and the chapter on local taxes in Mathew Bender’s treatise on State and Local Taxation. She frequently speaks and is published on state and local tax issues. 

Calhoun has been listed for a decade as one of the Best Lawyers in America (2007-2017) and in Louisiana Super Lawyers (2007-2017). She is rated AV-preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. New Orleans CityBusiness named her a 2005 Woman of the Year and a member of its 2014 Leadership in Law class. She was recognized by New Orleans Magazine as a Top Lawyer in 2012 and by Louisiana Super Lawyers as a Top Woman Attorney in 2016. 

She earned her BS from Tulane University’s H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College in 1987, her JD from Tulane Law School in 1991 and her LLM from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997.
