Prof. Lipton hosts Tulane Corporate and Securities Law Roundtable March 9
Tulane’s Corporate and Securities Law Roundtable returns March 9, on the heels of the 36th annual Corporate Law Institute.
Tulane Law Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Research Ann Lipton annually gathers top corporate and securities scholars from around the country to explore changes in the field. This year’s Roundtable, which is sponsored in conjunction with Tulane's Murphy Institute, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Tulane Law School’s John Giffen Weinmann Hall, 6329 Freret Street, in Room 110.
Lipton, the Michael M. Fleishman Associate Professor in Business Law and Entrepreneurship, organized this year’s conference through the support of the Sher Garner Endowed Fund for the Advancement of Commercial Law and the Murphy Institute. The conference is now in its 8th year.
The conference attendees will discuss trends and topics in the area of shareholder voting in corporate governance, the social responsibilities of the corporation, and the historical development of the corporate form and its regulation.
Lipton’s conference traditionally follows Tulane Law's two-day Corporate Law Institute (CLI), the nation's premier gathering of corporate dealmakers, legal professionals, academics and judges.
Lipton is an experienced securities and corporate litigator who has handled class actions involving some of the world’s largest companies. A former law clerk to Supreme Court Justice David Souter, she joined Tulane’s law faculty in 2015. In 2016, she was named as Tulane's first Michael Fleishman Associate Professor in Business Law & Entrepreneurship.
The Sher Garner Fund underwrites lectures, roundtables and other activities devoted to the study of commercial, business and finance law. The Fund was established in 2015 by Lee Sher (L ’76) and Jim Garner (L ’89), and the New Orleans law firm of Sher Garner Cahill Richter Klein & Hilbert.
The Murphy Institute’s Center for Law and the Economy annually co-sponsors the Roundtable as part of its mission to bring both Tulane and guest faculty in law, economics, and political science to campus to present leading-edge research in regulation, civil rights, and other key issues in law and the economy.
