The LSAC PLUS Program at Tulane Law School is designed for diverse individuals in the New Orleans metro area that are one year away from applying to law school. This will be a hybrid (virtual and in-person) five-month program that will begin in May 2023 and end in September 2023.
The cohort will meet in-person on campus on one Saturday every month and virtually once a month with their mentoring small groups. These mentoring groups will include both a current law student mentor and an attorney mentor. The monthly programming will focus on the following topics:
1) Law School Application Components, Financial Planning, and Strategies for Success
2) Legal Careers and Professional Development
3) The US Legal System, Louisiana Legal History, and Social Justice Challenges
4) Law School Classes, Exams, and Student Life
5) Wellness, Stress Management, and Self-Care Strategies
These interactive sessions will include local attorneys/judges, current law students, and law school faculty/staff as speakers and panelists. At the end of each session students will be given assignments to work on over the next month, and to discuss with their small group. By the conclusion of the program participants will have the materials and knowledge that they need to apply for law school admission. Additionally, participants will have the information and connections needed for a successful transition to law school.
LSAC PLUS Program participants will be eligible to receive a $1,000 stipend. This stipend will be paid in installments throughout the duration of the program. To remain eligible to receive all stipend payments, participants must attend the sessions and mentoring meetings, as well as complete all assignments.
