Tulane Law School has moved to online instruction and to have as many faculty and staff that can effectively work from home do so now. Following the university's directive, we have also canceled events of greater than 10 people. Please read below for more information. Access to Campus is Restricted
We will be providing Fall Semester updates in the coming days.
Tulane University has suspended or postponed all gatherings on campus for the time being which will impact a number of law school conferences, lectures and other events. Given that the impact of the virus remains fluid, we will remain in contact about future events beyond May 1 including the Tulane Law School Alumni Reception at the Louisiana State Bar Association Annual Meeting (Sandestin, Florida, June 9); and the Tulane Law Alumni Swearing-In Ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court (Washington, D.C., June 1).
Information for Faculty and Staff
Grading Policy for Spring 2020
On March 20, 2020, Mayor LaToya Cantrell issued a “Stay at Home” mandate for the City of New Orleans. While faculty and staff are considered “essential” personnel under the Mayor’s order and are permitted to travel to the Law School if (and only if) there is a “critical need” to do so to carry out remote teaching, they should remain in the building no longer than absolutely necessary. Weinmann Hall is locked and accessible only by Splashcard.
Staff: It is expected that most staff members at the Law School will be able to work effectively from home. Staff members whose presence on campus is considered “critical” will be contacted by their supervisors; others will be working from home.
Faculty: Information on remote teaching and other faculty-specific updates can be found on this page. Faculty members may exercise their own judgment about whether their presence on campus is critical to their teaching and research. As previously stated, faculty should access the law school and their offices if and only if there is a critical need to do so to carry out remote teaching. They should remain in the building no longer than absolutely necessary and avoid contact with others.
If you must come into the office, please practice social distancing measures and preventative measures throughout the university. We urge you to follow these same recommendations at home.
